Harold Alfond Academic Center, Thomas College, Waterville, Maine Construction Managment

The two story, 37,000 sf learning center was designed by Connor Architecture of Lexington, MA.  This prominent structure is a focal point located in the heart of the campus and represents a significant milestone in the implementation of Thomas College’s Campus Master Plan.

The new facility encompasses the Kenneth and Eva Green Library, the H. Allen Ryan School of Business and the Clifford Financial Center.  Additionally, there is a computer lab, media center, six classrooms, numerous study lounges, the student tutoring/mentoring center, faculty offices and Thomas' board room.  In the hub of the building is located Jeanie's  café with its expansive daylighting that provides a warm and inviting gathering place for the student community.

The state of the art facility is heated and cooled using geothermal heat pumps and incorporates the latest in LED lighting technology.  These energy saving systems qualified Thomas College for a number of Efficiency Maine incentives.

In addition to providing pre-construction services, CC of Maine was retained to provide owner’s representative/project management services during the construction phase of the project.  CC of Maine also coordinated the purchasing/installation of the owner's furnishings, signage, food service equipment and assisted in the phased occupancy of the building.

The Harold Alfond Academic Center was completed ahead of schedule in July 2014 and was constructed under the owner's budget.
