Hinman Residence Hall, Thomas College, Waterville, Maine, Construction Consultants

Driven by increased student enrollment, the 108 bed Henry and Ellen Hinman Residence Hall was constructed to meet the housing requirements of the incoming 2014 first year students. The three story, 32,600 sf structure was designed to compliment the adjacent Bartlett Residence Hall on the north side of the Thomas College campus. Both buildings were designed by JSA Architects of Portsmouth, NH.

The building houses students in two pods on each of the second and third floors.  Each pod has 27 beds, central restroom/showers, a corner lounge that overlooks the campus and access to a centrally positioned study lounge between the pods.  The first floor has a computer lounge, a large social lounge and houses the Resident Director.  Full height glass curtainwall construction on two corners and a center prow allows natural light to enter the common areas, affording generous views of the southern campus.

CC of Maine worked directly with the College, the architects, and the construction manager during the preconstruction phase and provided owner’s representative/project management services throughout construction.  CC of Maine also coordinated the purchasing/installation of the furnishings, the signage and assisted in the occupancy of the building.

Ground was broken for Hinman Hall in mid-October 2013 and was completed, under the owner's budget, in August 2014.
